Alberto Bari nasce a Como nel 1950 e vive a Torino dal 1960.

Fotografo professionista, dopo anni di intensi studi con la collaborazione di un esperto semiologo e di uno psichiatra, ha iniziato a insegnare Alta Fotografia secondo i principi della Semiotica dell'immagine, spiegando agli allievi come costruire le immagini anche basandosi su principi di psicologia cognitiva e la conoscenza dei meccanismi cerebrali dei possibili osservatori.

Nel libro fotografico “Le mie verità momentanee” (2015 Blurb editions) Alberto Bari presenta una serie di imagini in bianco-nero e a colori nelle quali ha messo in pratica i principi insegnati nei suoi corsi.

Ama la street photography, molte foto sono state scattate inquadrando il soggetto senza osservare nel mirino, con la fotocamera in prospettiva ombelicale, guardando le persone negli occhi per riprendere le loro espressioni naturali, spontanee. Da una selezione di queste immagini è nato il libro “Looks form below” (Sguardi dal basso - 2013 Blurb editions).

Le sue fotografie sono state esposte nel corso degli anni sia nella Galleria Eidos di Torino, che gestiva personalmente, sia presso altre sedi in Italia.

Recentemente ha esposto una serie di fotografie e pubblicato un libro dal titolo “Torino  Oltre i quartieri” (2017-Blurb editions), imagini di palazzi delle periferie riprese chiudendo sui particolari per coglierne i grafismi, le foto esposte sono state tutte acquistate dallo studio Avvocati Penalisti Associati unitamente a sessanta copie del libro. 

Alberto Bari ha pubblicato diversi libri fotografici e un paio di libri di testo, “Verità momentanee - La costruzione di una fotografia artistica - Riflessioni teoriche e pratiche finalizzate a scrivere e leggere correttamente una fotografia utilizzando gli insegnamenti della semiotica dell’immagine”2012-Blurb editions e “Il rapporto fra strumento e immagine nella fotografia artistica”  (2010-Blurb editions)

E’ membro della Società  Fotografica Subalpina, il più antico circolo fotografico in Italia (1899).

«Una  fotografia  per  essere  considerata  arte  deve  essere  la  rappresentazione  del sentimento  dell’autore, un’interpretazione della realtà vista dal fotografo/artista che fa prendere all’immagine una forma, frutto del suo linguaggio, con la sua impronta.

La forma, ossia l’atto estetico per eccellenza, è il compimento dell’espressione artistica, l'attimo reale fermato dall’otturatore si trasforma nell'attimo visto dal fotografo/artista che vi ha infuso i suoi sentimenti modellando la materia  per darle la forma che vuole che sia.

Un semplice  riporto  trova  quindi  una  sua  unicità  in  grado,  se  ben  interpretata,  di stimolare nel fruitore una reazione di coinvolgimento emotivo.

Dobbiamo in sintesi passare da Riporto a Interpretazione, debanalizzando l’immagine, enfatizzandone contestualmente il “centro di interesse”.

Come scriveva Umberto Eco “il primo passo, nell’interpretare un’opera d’arte, è cercare un'intenzione originaria; e il primo passo, nel fare un’opera d’arte, è porre un’intenzione formativa.”» (1961)

Alberto Bari was born in Como in 1950 and has been living in Turin since 1960. 

A professional photographer, after years of intense study, he began to teach High Photography according to Visual Semiotics principles. His aim is to explain to his pupils how to construct their photographs by using also elements of cognitive psychology and relying on the knowledge of the brain mechanisms of vision that are activated when a person watches a picture. 

In the photographic book "My Momentary Truths" (2015-Blurb editions) Alberto Bari presents a series of black-and-white and color images in which he puts into practice the principles taught in his courses.

Alberto is particularly interested in street photography. Many of his pictures were taken by framing the subject without looking through the viewfinder, with the camera held at bellybutton level, looking at people in their eyes to capture their most natural and spontaneous expressions. The book "Looks from below” (2013-Blurb editions) is the result of a selection of these images produced using this specific technique.

His photographs have been exhibited over the years at the Eidos Gallery in Turin, which he manages personally, and at other locations in Italy.

Alberto recently exhibited a series of photographs and published a book titled "Torino Beyond the Neighborhoods” (2017-Blurb editions), which collects pictures of suburban buildings characterised by the closing to details in order to capture the real texture of the architectures. All the photos exhibited have been purchased by the Associated Criminal Lawyers in Turin, together with sixty copies of the book.

He published many photo-books and two text-books, "Temporary truths. The construction of an artistic photography - Theoretical and practical reflections aimed at correctly writing and reading a photograph using the semiotics of the image teaching” (2012-Blurb editions) and “The relationship between the instrument and the image in artistic photography” (2010-Blurb editions).

Alberto is also a member of the Società Fotografica Subalpina, the oldest photographic society in Italy (1899).
